ABOUT THE FILM

An embedded film about the election campaign of a young party leader, who goes for political gain and is confronted with personal loss. The documentary 'Jesse' shows the Dutch Green Party in the middle of the exciting election battle of 2017. In images never shown before, we see up close how leader Jesse Klaver and his team experience the campaign. Since taking office, GroenLinks has been rising in the polls and its movement has mobilized thousands of young people. But with his popularity, the criticism is also increasing: Jesse Klaver is too young and inexperienced. He is not authentic and acts like a pop star, not as a politician. GroenLinks achieved a historic win on election night, but behind the scenes, we see Jesses disappointment. He wanted more. While Jesse is in the middle of the formation, he takes a huge personal blow.
